LEGISLATIVE CONFERENCE - 2010
Dates: 9/16/2010 - 9/17/2010

Location: Washington, DC

Details:

Helping Organizations Transition to Succeed

If you need to understand the complex world of government contracting, the Department of Education’s plans for servicing student loans and preventing defaults, the services schools and borrowers need and how to provide them, the future for private loans and student loan capital markets, and how to identify new revenue streams, you need to attend the NCHELP Legislative Conference. The conference will provide attendees with the essential tools and information to succeed in the new higher education environment.

It also features political expert Charlie Cook, who will provide an insider's view on what to expect in the November elections both for the parties and their individual candidates. Just name a district and he'll tell you who will win!

Conference topics include:
• Helping your organization understand the many components of contracting with the government:

  • Understanding the unique labor and employment regulations governing federal contracts.
  • Reviewing the options and obligations for protecting your organization from a data breach. How much insurance can and should your organization get and how close to full coverage can you reasonably expect? In the event of a data breach, who do you call first to make a report and which guidelines – federal or state -- should you follow?
  • Understanding the guidelines and expectations for non-profit servicers.

• Identifying available federal, state and private grant funds and understanding the application process.
• An update from the Department of Education about new and existing contracts and initiatives.
• The status of the student loan capital markets and expectations for private education loans.
• A discussion with members of the financial aid community about services they need to provide additional support for students and borrowers.
• An expert analysis of the Financial Services Reform bill, its implications for businesses and how they are preparing for change.

These and several related topics will be covered in detail at the Legislative Conference. The preliminary agenda is available below.
